- Not for use over an area affected by osteoporosis or osteopenia - percussion carries a fracture risk
- Avoid if you take blood thinners, and never use directly over varicose veins
- Keep the heated head moving - resting it on one spot risks a burn, especially with reduced skin sensation
- Never use on a painful or swollen calf, or on the front and sides of the neck
